Making the Most of your Coffee Break

Making the Most of your Coffee Break

Liquidline supplies commercial coffee machines because we believe that drinking coffee throughout the working day is a great way of staying on track, optimising productivity and simply making the day a little more enjoyable. If your workplace allows you an allocated coffee break, this a real bonus which should not be taken for granted. A coffee break may seem really insignificant when you can simply take a mug to your desk, but even a 10-minute break can be used wisely; here’s how!

Be Disciplined

The first step to making the most of your coffee break is to actually take it! Most of us are tight on time and all too aware of pressing deadlines at work, but taking a few minutes out to refuel and recalibrate your brain often means you’ll be more productive when you get back to your task. Find a space away from your desk to distance yourself, whether that’s in the kitchen, the cafeteria or even an empty meeting room.

Know Yourself

Another important aspect of benefiting from your coffee break is making sure it helps you to re-energise; if you end up spending your whole break chatting to an irritating colleague you’ll find yourself back at your desk more frustrated than you were before you took a break! If you’re an introvert, take yourself off to a quiet spot to relax for a few minutes, or if you’re more extroverted and gain energy from being around others, take your break at the same time as a couple of colleagues you can have a good chat with, or maybe make a quick phone call to a friend or relative.

Make a Great Coffee

By far the most important aspect, a good coffee will go a long way in ensuring you have a good coffee break. Instant coffee will supply you with the caffeine you need when you’re low on energy and in a rush, but use your break to make yourself a good quality coffee from the office coffee machine. That way you’ll get the required caffeine content in an enjoyable, and therefore refreshing, way.

Fuel your Energy

As well as great coffee, some of us like to indulge in a little snack on our break to see us through until the next meal. For many people a sugary treat like chocolate or a biscuit goes down a treat but, whether for reasons of calorie counting or simply energy levels, that doesn’t work for others. In this case, fruit is an obvious go-to, but there are other healthier snacks out their too! For ideas on snacks to have with coffee, take a look at our post on the best coffee accompaniments.

However you decide to spend your coffee break, we recommend that you discipline yourself to actually take it, and to find a way that helps you to re-energise a little, even in such a short space of time.
