Since the outbreak of Covid-19 we have had to re-think the way we can offer coffee to the workplace. A way that makes sure your staff and customers feel safe. We have been investigating some of the latest Touchless technologies from our suppliers to find out how their ideas will enable your staff and customers to enjoy a safer coffee experience.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONTACT AND TOUCHLESS COFFEE MACHINES?
When you approach a coffee machine, it’s hard not to miss the array of images and buttons in front of you, waiting for you to make your choice. You are invited to scroll through the menu and push the button once you have selected your drink of choice. You walk away with your beverage and the next person comes along and begins the selection process. With a touchless coffee machine, you will still enjoy the array for images and choice but there is no longer a need to touch the surface of the coffee machine when selecting your drink. This means you can add safety and hygiene to the process of making a drink.
WHAT MACHINES USE TOUCH-FREE TECHNOLOGY?
Say goodbye to the push button and touch screen panels! They are being replaced with new technologies which allow them to be operated remotely and touch-free.
The patented Distance Selection Technology is featured in a range of Vitro Coffee machines. This technology invites the user to place their cup under the dispenser and hover their finger up to 2 centimetres over their drink selection. The machine will register this motion and begin making the drink.
The Swiss company Jura have released an app called J.O.E, allowing the user to control the coffee machine from their phone. Not only can they select and customise their favourite drink, but it will also let them know when the machine requires a clean or refill of beans and water. To ensure the Jura J.O.E app is compatible with a Jura coffee machine make sure the Smart Connect Technology has been installed onto the machine. Also, don’t forget to put the cup in place before you select your drink!
The Cafetouch Wifi App is wifi enabled with multiple features. Including an adjustable background colour to match your brand and a flexible drink menu means you can display from 6 to 30 drinks. You will find up to 7 variable options including long, strong, decaf and jug fill. You can also adjust the coffee strength via the app, for those days when you need that little extra boost!
Finally, we have the coffeeMYsation app, created by Schaerer. Compatible with the Schaerer Coffee Club machine, this app allows the user to remotely create their favourite beverage and operate the machine directly from their smartphone. They can also save a favourite recipe so they can enjoy the same beverage next time. Again, don’t forget to put the cup in place first!
Everyone can benefit from this new technology, but we believe it will be very beneficial to leisure, golf, cafes, restaurants and shared office spaces. It’s a great way for multiple users to safely prepare and enjoy their favourite beverages in a communal environment.
